On Sunday night, ESPN fired analyst Steve Phillips, 46, over the highly publicized affair he had with ESPN production assistant, Brooke Hundley, 22, according to the New York Daily News.
In a statement, ESPN said that Phillips’ “ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.”
Phillips had once been general manager for the Mets and joined ESPN in 2004 as a baseball analyst. He had taken a leave of absence from his post after the affair was revealed, saying “I am deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this.”
After the affair ended between Phillips and Hundley, the young woman allegedly harassed his wife, Marni Phillips, and stalked his teenage son. Marni filed for divorce from Phillips in September after having to call police upon arriving home and finding Hundley leaving her a letter about the affair.
