A banged-up Tiger Woods bowed out of his own golf tournament Monday as a Manhattan party girl stayed out of sight – days after denying she’s his lover.
Woods released a brief statement saying he was too sore from his mysterious Friday night car crash to play in the tourney in Southern California, which raises money for the Tiger Woods Foundation.
As Woods holed up in his Florida mansion, friends described how leggy stunner Rachel Uchitel – the daughter of a Palm Beach socialite – built a career in the glittery night life in Las Vegas, the Hamptons and New York, where she wrangles VIPs and celebrities for clubs.
“She’s very aggressive when it comes to meeting celebrities,” a Manhattan club source said. “That’s her job: bring them into the club by any means necessary.”
The 34-year-old beauty worked at trendy Tao in Las Vegas and New York, as well as Marquee and the Stanton Social in Manhattan, during 2007.
“She’s a fire-starter and a drama queen,” one source said. “It finally wasn’t worth the drama with her.”
There was big-time drama last week when the National Enquirer reported Uchitel had an affair with Woods, whose squeaky-clean image is matched only by his prowess on the golf course.
The story broke just as the links legend was banged up in a car accident early Friday, slamming into a fire hydrant and then a tree outside his Orlando mansion.
Several outlets have reported that Woods was fighting with his wife, Swedish supermodel Elin Nordegren, over the story before the smashup.
Uchitel has vehemently denied having an affair with Woods and declined comment Monday when reached on her cell phone. Her lawyer, Gloria Allred, also declined comment.
